Have you ever noticed how on every coach and bus, the seats always have some lairy, colourful pattern?

I thought not, but I have, and continue to do so. Recently I found out that the reason for the loud patterns is that it means stains do not show up as clearly as they would if the chairs were all one colour. I have three problems with this.

1. If the chairs are dirty, clean them. You charge me enough to travel on your ridiculously decorated bus, and all that I want is to get from A to B without sitting on a shitty chair, and I am talking literal shit here.
2. I would not have this greivance if the bus (or public transport as a whole) was free, or even very cheap. The bus fare is ridiculous, once you have boarded about six people, you would have enough to pay someone a very decent wage to send an hour cleaning the bus.
3. Don’t try and cover it up! If you must be so disgusting, don’t try and shield your shame by slapping patterns on the chairs which make it look as if a four year old has been let loose with a pack of crayons. If you insist on being so gross then face up to it, reveal yourselves for the disgusting, money-hogging, theives that you really are. Bastards.

And yet, this is not the most annoying thing about public transport, in my mind. I get a bus home from school everyday which comes ONCE AN HOUR. And just to make it worse, it leaves the bus stop at 15.19, 1 minute before my lessons finish. Therefore, if I want to actually get home on time and not sit around in the cold for an hour, I have to either a)run out of school like some sort of crazy person or b)leave lessons early. Myself and others have written to and phoned up the company who runs the bus service in the past, and we did this when the bus time was 15.21, and instead of moving it to a later time, we came back to school after the Summer break to find that they had made it even earlier! It’s as if they don’t want us to get the bus.

In the title I accidentally capitalised my nouns because I had four lessons of German today and that shit just sort of sticks in your brain. Oops.

I’m in bed right now, had a long day at work and the worst nights sleep, so I am absolutely knackered. But, I wanted to check in.

Literally. I’m done now. Ugh whatever. Insert filler.

I feel like at the moment, my life is just WORK WORK WORK WORK WORK. Monday to Friday is school, Saturday is work and Sunday is homework. Honestly, I get no time just to do nothing, which is pretty much all I did last year. It’s kind of hard adjusting, and I’m always so tired. (I know I shouldn’t really complain about being tired when I am writing on here at 1 minute past midnight, but tomorrow is the only day of the week that I get a lie in, so we’re cool. I’m sick of constantly working, because I have nothing in the short term to look forward to. The next thing that I am excited about is half term, at the end of the month, then there is Christmas which I am excited about. After that, nothing until my Cousin’s baby is due, and that’s not for ages. So yeah, it pretty much sucks to be me right now.

Generally, I have a good relationship with my parents, particularly with my Mum. But, sometimes I just feel like my Mum doesn’t appreciate that I am a good daughter. I do/don’t do a lot of things for the benefit of my parents, and my brother does the exact opposite. However, he’s blatantly the favourite. He’s useless and depends on everyone else, and he is EIGHTTEEN. I’m more independent than he will ever be.

I’m all for equal rights. Anything prejudice isn’t cool in my books. However, sometimes I just want to scream at, shout at, threaten and generally hinder the wellbeing of extreme feminists. Don’t get me wrong, the feminists who worked hard to get us equal rights in the work place and the right to vote deserve a lot of respect, but the only sexism which remains is majoritively down to personality, and people choosing sexist beliefs, the same way that some people are homophobic: we know it’s wrong, but some people choose that lifestyle. My reason for this sudden rant regarding sexism is after seeing this article about women in the US complaining that “Men at Work” signs are sexist.

What? Seriously? Is it a real issue? There are people starving to death, people being beaten by family members, people living on the streets, and you’re biggest problem is that a sign doesn’t mention your sex. Get over it, because this is not a problem. In the UK, are men at work sign look more like this, so what next. Shall we draw a skirt on? Give the person in the image long flowing locks of hair? THIS IS NOT AN ISSUE.

Yorkie used an advertising campaign in which the slogan was “It’s not for girls.” Click here to see the advert, if you’re not familiar with it. That campaign cause lots of controversy, and as a result, probably earned Yorkie millions. Guys would buy it to piss off girls, and girls would buy it to prove a point. Genius.

What gets me, is benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is when the ‘victim’ actually get’s something good out of the situation. An example of benevolent sexism is the idea that you “can’t hit a girl.” Men AND women hold this belief, and it isn’t really challenged as sexist, despite the fact that it blatantly is. It is saying you can beat the shit out of a man if you wish, but raise your hand to a woman and you are a sorry excuse for a human being. There’s benevolent sexism everywhere, including the idea of DIY. The excuse of “I can’t do it, I’m a girl” as if your sex determines how feeble you are. That’s sexist, and I’m surprised women are taken seriously at all with benevolent sexism so rife.
