Donate your brain

I’ve mentioned organ donation before, but recently I heard about Parkinson’s Brain Donation scheme and decided to research it.

There’s a website from which you can find out all the important information, just click here.

The Parkinson’s Brain Bank needs people with and without the disease to donate their brains after death, of all ages and races. Essentially, it’s similar to the organ donor scheme. I would seriously advice requesting an information pack - you aren’t committed to anything by doing so and even if you choose not to donate, you can learn more about the science behind the search for a cure.

Research using donated brain tissue has already led to major medical breakthroughs in the treatment and understanding of Parkinson’s disease. Although no one in my family suffers from the disease, I understand how difficult it can be for both the diagnosed and their family, and this was my motivation for applying.
